ABSTRACT

The DAB centre collaborated with CAP to deliver all the foundation credit courses. Sometimes the courses enabled students to develop individual interests. A study skill course resulted in assignment topics ranging from epilepsy to fly-fishing to shorthand. Other study skill courses were delivered around a common theme that was relevant to the learners, such as disabled people in society. The enterprise course was probably the most instrumental. This focused on activities that would foster individual skill acquisition as well as contribute to building the capacity of the organisation itself. The enterprises included the creation of a charity shop and a promotional display that was used to publicise the services and facilities available at the Centre to members of their local community. The use of ICT in these enterprises is described in chapter seven.
