ABSTRACT

The assumptions underlying the hypotheses tested are addressed and the policy implications of these also pointed out. A number of policies that have variously emerged from the study are proposed for effective future regional planning in Ghana. It is relevant that the possible and probable implementation of the proposed policies is prognosticated. The regional problem as shown in the analyses of inter-district and between-sector disparities points to lesson. The assumption that the Twifo Oil Palm Plantation Project components are not clearly set within the context of formal regional planning policy and practice has been borne out. The proposed policies are guided by the identified points of intervention as well as the underlying assumptions and policy implications of the hypotheses tested. The policy proposed here is one of a formal introduction and establishment of a practice of plan-making at the regional level.
