ABSTRACT
In the course of the Develop phase the automation components of the solution are developed. This chapter explains the key questions that need to be asked when developing the solution. It key decisions that need to be made regarding approach: waterfall versus agile and business requirements versus system driven. The chapter concentrates on describing the development of an automated business process management (BPM) solution. The choice of development method is critical and needs to be followed throughout all the steps of the Develop phase. A common problem during the Develop phase is conflict between what the business wants and how the developers interpret the business's requirements. During the Develop phase the committee is responsible for the completion of the Target Operating Model (TOM) and its execution during the course of the BPM activity. The Develop phase should ensure that sustainable performance is created.
