ABSTRACT

Ethnicity is primarily connected with the use of various languages. Groups using the same language tend to develop cultural identities. People belonging to the huge language families of the world have little internal interaction except the use of a common language. Linguists have attempted to classify most of the living languages into taxiomatic language families with various kinds of subgroup. The number of human racial groups is notably quite small and there is a considerable overlap between the groups and linguistic groups. The occurrence of ethnic cleavages depends first on the size, compactness and the number of ethnic groups that exist in a given country. The positive connection between life satisfaction and national pride is an ethnicity effect. National pride is especially strong in Latin America and Africa. Left-right orientation is a classical scale in attitude research that allows one to classify both the electorate and political elites.
