ABSTRACT

This essay was first published as a review of Documents on British Foreign Policy 1919-1939, Second Series, Vol. 2: 1931 (London, HMSO, 1948), in the Times Literary Supplement (19 June 1948). In this essay Alan Taylor was more restrained in his criticism of the principles of the editing, if not of Ramsay MacDonald (1866-1937), the British Prime Minister, and Arthur Henderson (1863-1935), his foreign secretary.
