This chapter explores how the formulation of rehabilitation policies and the planning and design of rehabilitation projects can be improved by the incorporation of culturological analysis (CA) within these processes. It also explores the suitability of CA for application in conservation and rehabilitation schemes for small urban communities. The chapter identifies also the basic modifications which may be required for application of the method in different contexts, and then goes on to assess which modifications would be appropriate for use in a Scottish urban context. Urban anthropology is concerned with urban societies and cultures of all times and places. The cultural concept for planning has feed-back implications at regional and local levels, mainly on development policies: this concept is a result of culturological evaluations which are based on ethnological assessments. Ethnology and Anthropology based review could be started by the sixth edition of Cultural Anthropology for the definition and the scope of this science.
