ABSTRACT
Korean has a number of idiomatic expressions that are built on one of the four noun-modifying endings (i.e., ~는, ~은, ~을, ~던) and a noun, such as 길, 적, 동안, and so forth. Since these nouns always appear after the noun-modifying endings (e.g., ~는 길 or ~은 적), they are called “post modifiers.” This chapter introduces special expressions that are made by combining one of four noun-modifying endings with one of the following post modifiers: 것, 겸, 곳, 길, 김, 다음, 대로, 덕분, 동안/사이, 듯, and 때.
