ABSTRACT

Lilly Reich, renowned pioneer of modern design, was born on June 16, 1885, in Berlin. She was self-taught like Eileen Gray and other distinguished women architects. Many of the designers, just like Reich, were invited to participate in the 1912 show promoted by the Deutscher Lyzeum-Klub in the Zoological Garden in Berlin, entitled Woman at Work and at Home. Reich contributed to the exhibition on Woman at Work and at Home with the interior design of an apartment for a worker. The theme, selected by Reich, was in competition with the work of great creators such as Richard Riemerschmid, Peter Behrens or Bruno Paul, who also designed apartments for workers. Reich participated as a member of the tripartite committee for the Exhibition of the Deutscher Werkbund that was held between May 16 and August 16, 1914 in Cologne. A great number of techniques for exhibition were developed in the Bauhaus School between 1928 and 1931.
