ABSTRACT

Action planning helps you make the most of your time, your abilities, your resources; to focus on what you want or need and then to achieve it. It will help you to: • achieve the best possible results for you on your course• develop or change skills or other aspects of yourself (ways you do things, attitudes, values, qualities)• identify what you currently want from life and then to achieve it• monitor how well you are achieving what you’d like to achieve. This is a skill needed in employment. Action planning is important for the staff appraisal schemes which most organisations have, the Continuing Professional Development schemes of professional bodies, and generally for efficient working. For some jobs or tasks it is essential (eg project management). You can also use it to develop career plans.
