ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the challenges to the theory and practice of democracy posed by certain dimensions of the broader multidisciplinary debate about the concept of biodiversity and its implications are examined. In particular, it examines what kind of good biodiversity is and what the present generation owes to future generations in terms of the preservation and promotion of biodiversity. This focus distinguishes the present discussion from most other philosophical work on biodiversity.
