ABSTRACT

The intent of this final chapter is to reflect upon the lessons about child welfare practice contained in this book and to suggest how these lessons might guide aspirations for child welfare as we move into the next century. This chapter will include a comparison of these lessons with those emerging from recent research carried out by colleagues at the Child Family and Community Research Unit in the School of Social Work at the University of Victoria. I will also reflect upon how we can prepare social workers for practice in child welfare in view of these lessons.
