ABSTRACT

The radical difference between this metaphysical grounding of human reason and the traditional Western approach to metaphysics is the perspective that is taken with respect to the Other. The epistemological desire to understand has been directed towards the acquisition of knowledge of the Other. In Martin Heidegger’s analysis of being in An Introduction to Metaphysics, a clearer ontological understanding of Care may be gained, particularly with regard to the dynamic resonance of the fundamental existential question of being. In the struggle for emancipation from the restrictions of the grand narratives, and the consequent social corruptions and injustices, the aspiration to know the unknowable and control human destiny has dulled and deprived people of linguistic rhythmic sensitivities leading to a failure to search for the ground of a new metaphysics.
