ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book discusses that "achieving discursive coherence" of what constitutes Islamic feminism. It describes that the centering of women's agency spiritually and ethically constitutes the most important contribution of Islamic feminism. The book explores that Islamic feminism rediscovers and prompts the importance of women as ethical agents. It also explores that patriarchal violence is the effect of masculine hegemonic power structures in the private and public spheres that ineluctably engender economic and political inequality. Islamic feminist analysis ruptures the discursive dominance of masculine interpretation in the Islamic tradition as well as gendered institutional practices. Through the promotion of the equality between men and women as ethical and spiritual agents, Islamic feminism transforms the reworking of women's roles in the private and public lives and calls for women's leaders to produce a rethought Islam.
