“Peckham” after the Pioneer Health Centre and the changing discourse of health (1959–)

Chapter 11 reconstructs a number of attempts by former staff to establish new centres in other locations up until 1989. It shows how these attempts went along with certain semantic adaptations and modernizations. The chapter also evaluates the impact Pearse and Scott Williamson’s original concepts had on actual health policies, most clearly in practices of patient empowerment and community care in the 1970s and 1980s.
