ABSTRACT

The most important aspect of programme management is being able to break up the work into manageable chunks to ensure the flow of work, and dependencies are obvious and such that each component is as self-contained as possible. The key programme management processes and their relationships are shown with each activity in a swim lane to show which role is accountable. The programme manager is accountable for controlling the programme on a day-to-day basis to ensure delivery of the outcomes and benefits realization remains on track. A review of the programme’s outcomes should be undertaken to determine the degree of success. The management processes described earlier outline ‘integrating activities’ that the programme sponsor, programme manager and core programme team need to undertake. The most important aspect of programme management is being able to break up the work into manageable chunks to make the flow of work and dependencies obvious and such that each component is as self-contained as possible.
