ABSTRACT
This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of the book. The book draws on some of the main strands under six headings: three planes; deep ecology; a liquid world; sensuousness; and revisit the matters of a feasible utopia and criticality. It offers a specific idea of the university. The book expresses that in short supply are imaginative ideas of the university that are at once critical, optimistic and realistic. Criticality springs from the ecological university's concern for the world. In being concerned about the world, the ecological university forms views about the world. It has concerns for knowledge, social institutions, persons, the economy, learning, culture and the natural environment. The ecological university lives for the whole Earth. Just as the ecological situation of the whole world continues to unfold, the ecological university will continue to unfold as it critically keeps itself in view, in realizing its hopes for the world.
