ABSTRACT
Today we live in the shadow of one of modernity’s most powerful myths: the belief that science and technology will cure all of humanities ills. In spite of the evidence to the contrary, the very attractiveness of this myth ensures it an honoured place in the collective subconscious of Western civilisation.
