ABSTRACT
Scheduling is normally done by working from the earliest to latest tasks, left to right across some form of calendar. Back-scheduling simply reverses this process, normally working from a deadline and from the latest to earliest tasks, right to left. It involves calculating the latest finish and start dates for the uncompleted portions of all network activities. These are determined by working backwards through the network logic from the project’s end date (Project Management Body of Knowledge).
