ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses parables told by the central figure of Christianity, Jesus Christ. It also explains his contribution to peace in the world. Next, the chapter argues that if the churches want to contribute to a peaceful world, they have to know about the younger generation and their religious attitudes. A hermeneutical theory of practical theology in the field of Christian and religious education, 'pluralizing or plural hermeneutic', is useful to cope with the radical religious diversity among adolescents today. The chapter gives a detailed presentation of the results in the study on pluralism. Experience is regarded as the key that opens the doors to all religious mysteries. Human experience suffers from several constitutional handicaps which are rooted in specific features of human nature. The chapter summarizes some of these. Further, it discusses the statements and attitudes of young people who reflect experiences of resistance and protest against Christian faith.
