ABSTRACT

Non-figurative sculptor in bronze and other hard materials. He studied at Gloucester College of Arts and Technology, Cheltenham (1984-7), and at the RCA (1987-9). His first solo exhibition was at 249 Long Lane, London (1991). He has since exhibited at Crypt Gallery, St George's Church, London (199z), Reeds Wharf Gallery, London (1996), at the University of Essex (1997) and at Imperial College of Science and Technology, London (1999). He has been Artist-in-Residence in the London Borough of Ealing (1987-8), at Millfield School, Street (1997) and at the Atelier d'Arques, France (1999). His non-figurative works are cast in bronze, aluminium or iron, and he has often used blocks of polystyrene packaging or other slab materials as the basis for the construction of groups of forms bolted together. Censura IV (1995, cast iron) is one of a series of sculptures exploring questions of proportion, curvature, illusion and the assemblage of multiple units to suggest a potentially larger form.
