ABSTRACT

In a risk society, the probability of an increase in the level of these contradictions and the spread of social conflict rises sharply. Changes in the established socialization agencies are a source of a number of risk situations for the younger generation in Russia. In a risk society relations within the family, from the point of view of mutual co-operation between different generations, are subject to crisis. The source of this crisis is a developing conflict of social values within society which is simplified by the politicians and mass-media into a simple dichotomy between communist dictatorship versus democracy, or conservatism versus progressivism. Values are an original 'cultural code' which in turn is an indicator, allowing us to assess the success of the process of cultural identification of groups. The socio-cultural factors in Russian youth sub-culture provoke conflict between young people and society and create various risk situations for young people.
