ABSTRACT

Chapter Four focuses on how each of the schools ensured students received a quality education, specifically a guaranteed and viable curriculum that was accessible to all students and led to student mastery for all student groups. The three elements of the instructional system discussed in this chapter are the master schedule, collaborative planning for first instruction and the intervention and enrichment strategies that surround first instruction to ensure each student’s unique needs, strengths/weaknesses and interests are supported. How educators developed and adapted processes to the unique context of their school, given variability in size, resources, and student needs and interests are shared. A self-assessment tool is provided.
