ABSTRACT
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the scope and depth of systemic differences between the national economies in the modem world, as well as to try to foresee future trends. Although variety can be regarded as the other side of globalization, this issue has not been studied at length, because almost all attention is focused on the processes of unification, standardization and universalization. Therefore, this paper contains more questions and problems than answers.
