ABSTRACT

Admittedly, there may be other paths to value creation. Some IT organizations host the systems that customers employ to purchase a company’s products and access its services. They deliver tremendous value by ensuring that revenue-generating systems are available and highly responsive on a 24× 7 basis. In other circumstances, IT organizations may assume broader responsibilities for their company’s information security needs, business continuity plans, or supply chain operations. Obviously, there are additional paths to value creation when the role of the IT organization expands beyond its conventional boundaries.
