ABSTRACT
Changing principles of territorial sovereignty and emerging rationales of territorial governance represent a challenge for both research and action. A crucial aspect in this challenge is the increasingly problematic connection between the aims of effectiveness, representativeness, and innovativeness which new forms of territorial governance are called to face.
