ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of the book. The book examines diverse Christian and Muslim responses to religious diversity. Liberal understandings of religious diversity have brought many challenges to both Christian and Islamic theology of religions. Rowan Williams's theology of religions, though it has some unresolved issues, seems to acknowledge, for the most part, the insights of different approaches which are usually offered as alternatives to one another. In contrast to the main Islamic responses to religious diversity, Jerusha Lamptey has contextualised her theology of religions by firstly looking at the differences of other religions. The book analyses Islamic and Christian theology of religions. It offers a short comparative overview of two important notions: the concept of God and revelation. A potential Islamic response to non-theistic religions also needs to be developed within Islamic theology of religions.
