Cost Benefit Analysis in Relation to Some Other Common Measures

This chapter does not aim to make a full comparison between economic appraisal and other approaches. Its purpose is more limited, to consider some very common ways of expressing social values in the transport field and to relate them to the methods discussed in this book to establish the areas of common ground, common problems, and complementarity, rather than points of difference, though some will necessarily emerge.
