ABSTRACT
This introduction provides an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book gives an overview of some of the main ideas presented by innovative economists who have shifted their thinking outside the traditional economic concepts, theories and models to find new and exciting challenges which are relevant to a changing and, sadly, deteriorating world. It draws a creative picture of a utopian economy which is based on inspiration from the context of interpretation and the contributions to ecological economics. The book presents an inclusive sketch describing some main characteristics of ecological economics in harmony with nature, society and human beings. It also presents and evaluates the relevance of the concept of utopia as a frame of reference for understanding the existing worldview and as a context for developing models for an alternative future society.
