ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book focuses on an exciting intellectual odyssey to the traditional African philosophy of health, prosperity and well-being, through reconnecting with relevant literatures in the fields of history, economics, spirituality, anthropology, philosophy and political science. It explores the transformational enterprise topography. The book describes Paxherbal as an authentic and fully indigenous-exogenous enterprise that focuses on the systematic cultivation, identification, promotion and development of African herbal medicine. Paxherbal, as a flourishing health and business enterprise within a particular local community, activates the local community, using the tenets of the integral CARE paradigm, to become an integral community. The book also focuses on biological, physical healing and its business/enterprise aspects that deal with the manufacturing of herbal medicines, providing access to health care, employment and better living conditions.
