ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the socio-economic situation in Nigeria in general. It describes three major imbalances – transcultural, transdisciplinary and transpersonal – with a view to alleviating them. The chapter also describes Ewu and its surrounding communities as land rich with natural resources, occupied by a hard-working, fun-loving and good-hearted people. It focuses on to indigenous and exogenous knowledge in the politics, economics and health management of Nigeria in general and Esanland in particular. In Esanland and Nigeria, and Africa as a whole, what urgently needs to be taught is not just knowledge in itself but also the love of knowledge and knowledge acquisition as a lasting concern. Africans believe sickness is a result of disharmony between the physical and the spiritual. The popular stereotype of African indigenous medicine is of magic, witchcraft, voodoo, sorcery and spirit possession. The chapter concludes by addressing transformational ecosystem.
