ABSTRACT
What happens inside a business ecosystem? What kind of innovation, entrepreneurship and business transformation do we see in a business ecosystem? In Chapter 4, we distinguish and discuss four types of ecosystem entrepreneurial transformations inside Alibaba's ecosystem with illustrative cases AliHealth, Cainiao, Koubei, Huashu Taobao and Ali incubator: cross industry innovation, spin-out, experimentation and incubating new ventures and grooming new CEOs. We conclude that Alibaba's business ecosystem strongly facilitates entrepreneurial initiatives and we highlight ‘ecosystem entrepreneurship’ as a feature of Alibaba's growth strategy.
