ABSTRACT

In spite of China's verbal insistence that it just wants to rise peacefully, her actions show the true nature of Xi Jinping's dream for China. China's dream is to displace the United States as the dominant country in the world, starting with Asia. In 2016, the number of Chinese army incursions into Indian-controlled Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand have increased. In May 2014, China dragged a mobile offshore oil-drilling rig into waters that it contests with Vietnam near the Paracel Islands. On May 13, 2016, the US released its annual review of China's military. In an open military conflict between the US and China, the winning side is more likely to be determined by the side that can shut down its opponent's communications and military hardware via a cyberattack than by the size of its army, navy, and/or air force. China also is concerned about a potential cyberattack by the US.
