ABSTRACT

A manager who incorporates art, craft, and business as indistinguishable pursuits, rather than engaging in each task as purposely separate endeavors, might be called "Renaissance" or "Artisan." Tapping into the human element is the art of management in a digital world, while the technology itself is the science. In fact, because nonprofit organizations are not taxable, they must rely on external funding through charitable contributions, in-kind donations of goods and volunteer hours, as well as grants in developing their budgets. In nonprofit circles, in particular, data analysis plays an important role in evaluating fundraising goals and developing ongoing strategies. The aesthetic manager aims for an Aristotelian form of well-rounded accomplishment complete with virtuous character in addition to ethical business practices. Meritocratic performance appraisal systems represent scientific viewpoint of management. Competency models take into consideration the behaviors of individuals in the context of the organizational culture, not simply their performance in quantifiable terms.
