ABSTRACT
Statistical concepts are critical in determining the success of a genetic association study and must be considered before the study starts. Mistakes occurring throughout the various stages of a study cannot always be rectified by statistical tools in the data analysis phase and will result in an invalid study. Once an association is observed, making the distinction between genuine and spurious results is challenging.
