ABSTRACT

Of course, live-video is all about live, in-the-moment stuff: it's great to point our camera phone at something and go live. After all, it's those qualities that make these apps such soar-away successes. And as long as we speak clearly and have light enough to see, we shouldn't need too much more 'equipment investment'. Using the mic on our phone is usually fine if we are inside. Some phones come with a set of wired headphone earbuds, which have a microphone built into them which can also be used. People can take magnificent video or stunning still photos on their phones using focus and exposure settings or pull-focus techniques, but none of these is available through live-streaming apps, although we can adjust the brightness slightly in the Facebook Live menu. It's inevitable that the lens of our phone will get dirty and dusty. After all, it spends a lot of time in our pocket or bag.
