ABSTRACT

This chapter shows people how to lead a happier life through a story about a man from Tupelo, Mississippi. The story of Elvis Presley is a sad reminder that happiness doesn't come to everyone. The chapter gives people 10 rules for living that will guarantee the people all a happy life and self-respect. At the end of the get-rich-quick 1980s a study in the USA found that nearly half of the men felt that their lives were empty and meaningless despite years of trying to attain professional success. Research shows that happiness is something people can work on and increase. Admittedly there are some happiness creators which are hereditary, such as one's personality. Extrovert people are generally happier, and one American survey found that unhappiness is something people inherit. Carl Rogers believed that anyone can take the positive path to a satisfying life, if they are free to find their inner wisdom and confidence through self-understanding and empathetic relationships.
