ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts covered in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book argues that partiality can serve and protect the collective good pursued by the nursing profession. It discusses three levels of impartiality that have significance in nursing care. The book also focuses on how professional ethics and a comprehension of role-morality account for partiality in nursing care. It also discusses a general account of care ethics and the virtue-based arguments for mature care. The book also discusses the normative significance of relationships. It also examines how the prerogative for partiality can be balanced with justice according to the principle of formal justice. Due to their social terms of reference, nurses should distribute their available time according to impartial perspectives and prescriptions. Partiality in nursing care is aimed at protecting the integrity of both the patient and the nurse.
