ABSTRACT

If we knew how to increase the number of hours in a day, we would be millionaires. Folks in the time management business have a captive audience. Individuals like us, who place a higher value on our time than on our money, spend big bucks on books or gadgets that promise to help us find "more hours in our day." School is an important part of our lives, but it is not our life. If we could step back and look at ourselves, we would say, No wonder we struggle just to stay afloat. Teaching school, rearing a family, keeping up with the activities of the day, being involved in other organizations and clubs—we find ourselves trying to be superhuman. Carla Skidmore juggles her time among the elementary, junior high, and high school bands she directs. Between band booster meetings, afterschool tutoring, parades, concerts, programs, fund raisers, and her actual teaching, Carla has many school responsibilities.
