ABSTRACT

Designing an airline schedule is one of the most complex tasks that air carriers encounter. A completed and adopted airline schedule is a working obligation for all those employed in the air carrier's services. Operational constraints complicate the coordination of various air carrier and passenger interests. The system of aircraft technical maintenance is the most important operational constraint that has a crucial influence on the choice of airline schedule alternatives. Aircraft can remain at airports for longer or shorter periods. The length of this detainment can also be considerably affected by fuel purchasing tactics. The oldest and most frequent airline schedule is one that is prepared beforehand and is valid for a set period of time. Aircraft departure times for every day of the week are known for all routes on the network and are printed in publications intended for the transportation market.
