ABSTRACT

The phenomenon of globalization has become better understood over time, and the movement and ideology has led to widespread internationalization of the higher education sector, thus influencing the field of student affairs, practitioners, and their work with students and services. The concept of interculturalism connects to internationalization by relating to the learning and individual development of attitudes, behaviors, knowledge, and communication skills. Comprehensive Internationalization is the most dominant framework used in the US as an institutional imperative, not just a desirable option. The University of British Columbia at home international education programming seeks to expand the possibilities of interconnection and mutual learning for students, academic institutions, and the broader community. A minority of French and Portuguese mother tongue African students and some local South African students struggle with English as the medium of instruction.
