ABSTRACT

This chapter provides Internationalization at Home (IaH) as a framework for strategic development of internationalization of US student affairs. Senior Student Affairs Officers can support an IaH framework through education, collaborative partnerships, and supporting documents, like strategic plans and policies. The chapter discusses inclusive internationalization that stimulates intercultural development for all without prioritizing outbound international travel. Educating student affairs practitioners about the value and benefits of internationalization can influence strategic development so they can, then, identity current and potential partners for collaboration, and develop creative IaH strategies and practices. Empowering student affairs practitioners to work across departments and divisions and connect ideas and concepts can foster globally focused environments for students and the higher education institutions community. Conducting and publishing assessment, evaluation, and research are significant professional development activities for practitioners so that successes can be celebrated, promising practices shared with other colleagues, and knowledge on internationalization and intercultural learning advanced.
