ABSTRACT

Boomeranging is beginning to replace contiguous long-term tenure for much of the workforce. Boomeranging fully–coming back to a company as a full-time employee–has many advantages for the company as well as for the employee. For the employee, the advantages range from knowing what to expect to being able to focus on the job at hand without wondering "how good it is" elsewhere to being happy to being back on "their" team. While returning employees may have an easier entry into organizations they've worked for previously, companies and their returning heroes should not assume the return will be seamless. The reentry is as important as the exit for Boomerangs returning to companies as employees. In addition to product marketing VP Erik Charles, Xactly has had more than twenty boomerang employees among its high-ranking executives in the past decade.
