ABSTRACT

When employees are engaged, they are passionate, innovative, and entrepreneurial, and their eagerness fuels growth. These employees are emotionally connected to the purpose of their work. When employees are not engaged, they are apathetic toward their jobs—or, worse, they outright hate their work, manager, and organization, and some of these employees can and will stop at nothing to destroy a work unit and a business. Employees and customers hate surveys. Everybody is a critic these days, and access to social media makes it easier than ever to share the opinions. Young people today rely mainly on social media for their news. Many trust implicitly what they see, and that tendency makes social media an important vehicle for building relationships these days. Business leaders often tell that they wish their people would act more like business owners rather than employees. Employee satisfaction is the first step on the journey to magnetic leadership.
