ABSTRACT

In a visual medium such as television, it’s easy to focus more on what you see and less on what you hear. However, the vocal part of a presentation is an essential component of your overall performance. Using your voice to your best advantage includes knowing the characteristics you can control and understanding the physical elements and the environmental conditions that affect your voice. Characteristics range from voice types to pronunciation and pitch; physical aspects include voice quality and breath control. Knowing about objects in your environment, such as microphones and their various pick-up patterns, will also enable you to make the best use of your vocal talents.
