ABSTRACT

Listen to the employment prospects of any rock and roll band and you will hear them talking about the next gig. As in, our next gig is in Cleveland, or we are just happy to have another gig. Gig is a good word, and although the actual word may not make any sense, everyone knows what it means when it comes to a rock band. There is a certain breeziness to it that connotes being young and careless—although you may not know where the next gig is coming from, who cares, things always work out.
