ABSTRACT

The last time I was fired was during a training exercise for everyone except me. That is, an “up-and-comer” needed to learn how to properly terminate someone. I was that someone. It had been planned for weeks, maybe months, and “they” (you know who the proverbial “they” can be) wanted to use it as a means to “season” a young principal in the firm. So “they” all showed up. “Them” on one side of the conference table, me on the other side. The corporate attorney, who I thought was my friend, sitting on the opposite side of the table didn’t inspire confidence in my chances.
