ABSTRACT

Most of you had full access to the Internet during your teenage years, and therefore many of you got a solid dose of porn directly or heard a lot about it from friends. According to current studies, the average age at which boys first view porn is eleven in the United States.1 Recent anecdotal reports from parents, pediatricians, and sexuality educators indicate that this average seems to be getting closer to age nine. For many of you fellas, porn was your primary sexuality educator during adolescence. During the stretch of time when there wasn’t much reflection about porn, your parents probably felt it wasn’t their business to embarrass you with conversations about your masturbation habits, and they respected your privacy. It was probably quite easy for you to convince them that nothing was going on simply by telling them what they wanted to hear, relying on their relative technological incompetence, or making excuses for what they saw in your browsing history.
