ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the case study - a different region of the body (for example, head and face, cervical spine, and so forth). It presents an anatomical review to focus one's attention on the particular anatomical area and to provide with a brief recap of the major structures, if needed. A case study has been described as a "description of an actual situation, commonly involving a decision, a challenge, an opportunity, a problem, or an issue faced by a person(s) in an organization." Case studies used in the health care setting are fictional, researched, or actual encounters with a particular patient, medical condition, or other situation. They provide a snapshot of a specific moment in time; or they may examine a patient's condition from the onset of the condition to its resolution. The cases found in this text are based on real incidents encountered by the authors during clinical practice, on case studies found in research and articles.
