ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the clinical management of 14 shoulder pathologies, based on scenarios that depict a variety of settings with a diverse patient population, to broaden one's own critical-thinking skills. As with all cases presented in this text, the scenarios are either actual pathologies or modifications of injuries presented in literature. Some scenarios may intentionally contain wrong actions taken by the clinician. Each scenario provides information in order to adequately answer the questions presented; however, in some scenarios, information may be missing or extraneous information may be presented that may affect the way one decipher the scenarios. Therefore, the purpose of providing these scenarios is to facilitate one's awareness of different types of acute and chronic conditions, some of which are common, and some not so common. The case scenarios in the chapter requires that one select and use various special tests in order to determine the pathology.
