ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the clinical management of 13 different thigh, hip, groin, and pelvis pathologies in a variety of settings with a diverse patient population. In many instances, the scenarios are actual pathologies or modifications of injuries presented in the literature. The scenarios are written to provide information needed to determine the pathology presented. The chapter provides awareness of different types of conditions associated with this area of the body and to exercise one’s clinical skills and other techniques learned by answering the questions provided. The pelvis is comprised of three distinct bones fused together: the ilium, ischium, and pubis. The pubic symphysis, which is a fibrocartilaginous disc, connects the two separate pubic bones anteriorly and is supported by the superior and arcuate pubic ligaments. Only a small degree of movement occurs at this joint, limited mainly to compression and rotation.
